Maybe this does not trouble you but I have a problem with any provider, who after checking you out and agrees to see you, refuses to provide you with her address or at least her cross streets at the time of setting the appointment and will not disclose her address until 30 minutes before the appointment. Now I am not talking about someone working out of a motel environment but working out of an apartment or building complex. If that is the case provide your address and I have no problem calling for your apartment or suite number when I arrive at your location. But don't leave us in the dark about what your exact street address. I for one need to know this information well in advance to plan how best to drive to your location and that is not something I desire to figure out 30 minutes before seeing you. I just won't come and will go elsewhere.  BTW, this has happened to me twice recently and thought I would share this with my fellow hobbyists and providers for your comments.

I uderstand frustration… on the other hand.. I'm sure providers are simply taking precautionary measures

to feel safe.  I, personally will give the directons to my condo (excluding unit number) after my client has confirmed

an hr or two prior.  My pet peeve is when I'm expected to give my full address a day before the appointmnent.  As far as I'm

concerned… there is no possible reason a new cient needs to know all of this a day before his appointment.   A past experience I have had is my reason to stick to that rule.

I think there are several factors to consider in this area. Your reasons are valid By the Sea; if it's a large complex I see no harm in giving the address but not the unit until you arrive. If, on the other hand, it is a private home more precaution is required. This happened to me recently: he called and was on his way, so I told him the exit, the turn and a safe place to pull over and call me for the house number. When he called he said he would have to reschedule so I didn't give him the number and he didn't ask for it. When he did reschedule 2 days later I gave him the house number and he said he was on his way. He never showed up, nor did he call or email until the next day. His excuse was valid but that didn't make the prior 24 hours any less nerve-racking for me.

Intuition plays a huge role as well. If I am able to chat and get to know someone first I feel safer giving my address but as Alyssa said not until the appt is confirmed on that day. If someone insists on having the address days in advance that is a huge red flag. The 2 call system may be a little inconvenient or it may be a frustration depending on how its done. Most providers will/should give the area/cross streets for convenience, immho. The convenience and ease of parking when seeing a therapist is usually noted in reviews or should be.

Bree, you made the point I wanted to hear that providers should (at least) give the cross streets for convenience.  I want to stress that fact to all providers.  Now for Alissa,  I need your address a day before because  I do not have a GPS device in my car or cell phone and like to multitask, meaning I may be coming not from my home but from another part of town after doing shopping, errands or whatever.  The point is this, if you have verified me or anyone else then provide your exact apartment address, not just your area,  and I can then plan how best to get to you from wherever I am coming from and call you when I arrive.  If you don't at least do that, then we will never get together and that is one reason we never did.  All you providers may have various reasons or excuses for not disclosing your address until the last minute but I hope my comments at least gets you to think about this from the hobbyists point of view also. I for one want to arrive at your place in safety and be not rushed trying to figure all this out.

I know of one provider who has solved this problem by giving new clients the address of a rather nondescript office building that's across the street from her real address.  Yes, I was slightly confused when I pulled up in front of ACME Dental Supply, but when I phoned her, she simply told me to go across the street to unit 123 in the pink apartment complex.  Seemed simple and effective.
